A tangible form of a thinking process and a dialogue between curated materials, this work explores inkle weaving as both structure and metaphor. In the warp-faced technique, the weft remains mostly hidden, silently holding the form together underneath the visible surface. Yarns sourced from Japan, Mexico, and other places stay close to the maker’s hands, carrying traces of their origins while becoming part of a new composition.

The materials came together through chance encounters and a series of intuitive decisions, allowing unexpected potentials to emerge. Rather than being gathered for a predetermined project, many of the materials were already present, waiting to be rediscovered and understood through use.

Yarn and dye

I associate crochet, this delicate craft with houses, a space that holds tremendous values. By making a plain hood first, I then dyed it with house patterns on the knotted yarn. Next I frogged it which the line of the yarn became something like computer code. It was crocheted backed using the same crochet pattern and observe the changes over time and action.
